Best Paper Awards
For the first time in the history of Dublin Core, Best Paper and Best Project Report have been awarded from among three papers on the shortlist in each category.
The Best Paper Award went to Antoine Isaac, Valentine Charles, Kate Fernie, Costis Dallas, Dimitris Gavrilis, and Stavros Angelis for their paper « Achieving Interoperability between the CARARE Schema for Monuments and Sites and the Europeana Data Model ».
Runners-up were the following two unranked papers:
Jian Qin & Kai Li: « How Portable Are the Metadata Standards for Scientific Data? A Proposal for a Metadata Infrastructure ».
Jihee Beak & Richard P. Smiraglia: « With a Focused Intent: Evolution of DCMI as a Research Community ».
The Best Project Report Award went to « Linked Data Driven Dynamic Web Services for Providing Multilingual Access to Diverse Japanese Humanities Databases » by Biligsaikhan Batjargal, Takeo Kuyama, Fuminori Kimura, and Akira Maeda.
Runners-up were the following two unranked reports:
Dominique Ritze & Katarina Boland: « Integration of Research Data and Research Data Links into Library Catalogues ».
Inna Kouper, Stacy R Konkiel, Jennifer A Liss & Juliet L Hardest: « Collaborate, Automate, Prepare, Prioritize: Creating Metadata for Legacy Research Data ».
We see these awards as a way to draw attention to some papers the Program Committee, the Chairs and the Awards Committee deemed particularly innovative in some way. We hope that the awards are a motivation for the recipients and that they will help accentuate for the delegates the levels of innovation in metadata design and best practice that permeate all of the papers in the peer-reviewed program.
We congratulate all authors of short-listed papers and especially the winners of both awards.
