agINFRA

The agINFRA project will introduce agricultural scientific communities into the vision of open and participatory data-intensive science. agINFRA goes beyond the state-of-the-art in two key issues. First, by offering a research infrastructure that can facilitate agricultural research and an expansion and globalization of existing efforts to standardize and harmonize access to agricultural research data. Second, by exploiting semantics and ontologies through a Linked Data framework specified and hosted under the umbrella of the CIARD (Coherence in Information for Agricultural Research for Development) movement, facilitated by FAO of the UN. The infrastructure will provide, through Linked Data, a means of exposing semantics-aware information combined with a service-based interface to access the advanced and tailored computing capabilities of agINFRA using a cloud computing paradigm. The project will ensure interoperability within and across e-Infrastructures and further promote the concept of open access by joining forces with major open access initiatives. [learn more...]
