Travel information

The following information is intended to help DC-2011 participants make their travel arrangements:

Transport to and from the airport

«Amsterdam Schiphol Airport» is the main International Airport in The Netherlands. Other airports in The Netherlands include «Rotterdam—The Hague» airport or «Eindhoven airport» which offer good value flights from some European destinations.

The easiest method of transport to reach The Hague from Schiphol Airport is by train. Further information can be found on the «Holland by train» website or by using the «Dutch railways' Journey Planner».

Train tickets can be bought from the yellow «self-service ticket machines» at the airport. There are self-service ticket machines inside the luggage collection area, often with shorter queues than in the railway station at Schiphol.

Railway stations in The Hague

Please be aware that there are two railway stations in The Hague. «Den Haag Centraal» is the closest railway station to the conference venue (approximately «2 minutes walk»). There are direct trains from Schiphol Airport to Den Haag Centraal.

The other station in The Hague is «Den Haag HS (Holland Spoor)». It is possible to travel between Den Haag HS and Den Haag Centraal station by train or by tram 9 or 17.

Dutch Electronic Public Transport Card (OV Chipkaart)

To travel on public transport in The Netherlands you now need an «electronic public transport card». However, if you are only going to travel by train in The Netherlands, then the easiest option to buy a paper ticket from a «self-service ticket machine» or buy an «e-ticket» online.
