DANS promotes sustained access to digital research data. For this purpose, DANS encourages researchers to archive and reuse data in a sustained manner, e.g. through the online archiving system EASY. DANS also provides access, via NARCIS.nl, to thousands of scientific datasets, e-publications and other research information in the Netherlands. In addition, the institute provides training and advice, and performs research into sustained access to digital information. Institutional Repositories have revolutionized online availability of digital (research) content for the world's leading institutions. Through their dynamic nature, repositories are a more effective way of managing digital resources than local databases or archives, since they are interoperable and very easy to use. Many institutions adopt Open Access principles, based on the idea that immediate online availability of research increases its impact. By actively using repositories, today's academics radically reshape the landscape of (scientific) publishing. As a spinoff company from K.U. Leuven, &mire assists institutions worldwide in implementing and managing innovative repositories.
